Recently The Leader had an outstanding article about the shelters which are built by Community Build. The reporter identified these shelters as tiny houses. I would like to clarify that there are major differences between a tiny house and a tiny shelter. A tiny house will have a kitchen, bathroom, and living area/bedroom.
The Community Build shelter is a small structure with light, heat, a bed, cubbies, and a door that locks. People housed in the shelters must go out to use a bathroom/shower.
Community Build is building tiny shelters and setting them in villages and they are managed by Bayside Housing & Services and OlyCAP. These are temporary supervised shelters. For more information on Community Build and what they have done and plan to do in the spring go to community-build.org.
