We get it. Biden is old and looking frail. The press keeps harping on it. Yet he has worked with world leaders, is dealing with two fractious wars, and looks to the future of our planet (climate change). He is not an angry man filled with vitriol for revenge. He is not a liar, nor a bully. He is not a poor loser. He knows right from wrong and has been a public servant all of his life.
Why is Trump getting a free ride? Here is the most unscrupulous, immoral, and criminal candidate the nation has ever seen. Doesn’t anyone remember the revolving door in the Trump Administration? No one could work with him or, if they did, they quickly exited to prison. Is a man like Trump the best the Republican Party can offer voters? A man convicted of assaulting women, a fraudulent businessman to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars, a convicted felon consorting with a porn star?
Truth is stranger than fiction. And sadder and unforgiving.
Traditionally, we vote for representatives and senators to enact legislation on our behalf. A bipartisan group did just that in the recent border policy/security legislation. And yet a single citizen, not in Congress, derailed that effort for his own benefit. He put himself above all Americans whose representatives were acting for them. The hell with Congress! This reeks of a dictator validated by the Republican Party. And the worst of Trump’s acts are yet to be adjudicated.
We have two old men in this race. One is looking frailer than the other but has all the right experience and knowhow (and advisers) on his side. The other belongs in prison. Is there really a choice?
