A beloved and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and sister-in-law Kathy Long sadly left us on July 9, 2022.

She is survived by her parents, Helen and Harold Faust; husband, Bruce; daughter, Kelsey and partner Rowan Ring; daughter, Megan Long; brothers and wives, Mike Faust and Michelle Barnett, Greg and Wendy Faust; and nine nieces and nephews.

Kathy was born on July 26, 1957 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and being in a Coast Guard family, moved frequently, living in Spokane, Seattle, Patos Island in the San Juan Islands, Anacortes, Cape May, New Jersey, and back to Coeur d’Alene. The family eventually ended up in Port Townsend, Washington where Kathy graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1975 and then attended Eastern Washington University.

Kathy spent her entire, highly respected 30-plus year career in the transportation industry working for Sea-Land Service, Maersk, MacMillan-Piper Inc., Horizon Lines, and ended her career at Matson Navigation in Tacoma, Washington. She cultivated a great number of close relationships with colleagues and customers that went far beyond the scope of her job title. Kathy was also a past board member and active member of the Tacoma Transportation Club.

Outside of work, Kathy loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors camping, fishing and biking. She loved to travel especially to the Washington Coast with Ocean Shores and Long Beach, Washington being frequent and favorite destinations. If it wasn’t the Washington Coast, then Sunriver, Oregon was also on her list of favorites.

She was a special person loved and admired by family, friends, and colleagues who will be lovingly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to The American Cancer Society or any cancer research institute.

All are welcome to celebrate Kathy’s life on Aug. 13, 2022 at the Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club, 3583 SW 320th St., Federal Way, WA 98424.
