Doris Lanouette Murphy

Doris was born February 17, 1927, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to Roderick and Mary (Ogden) Lanouette. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1944 and from the Kathleen Dell School in Brookline, Massachusetts in 1946.

She and Paul Kirby Murphy were married on February 4, 1950, in Encino, California and raised their family, five daughters and two sons, in Woodland Hills, California. They retired to Gardiner, Washington in 1977. Doris joined the Cabin Fever Quilters in Chimacum in 1983 and immediately became an addicted quilter- she had made over 300 quilts at the time of her death. She and Paul started traveling in the mid-80s and traveled extensively to many places in the world. They moved to Sequim in 1996 to a condo in Sunland and spent 28 happy years there.

Doris is survived by her children Kathryn Hanna, Newbury Park, CA, Robbie Justyn, Sequim, WA, Joyce Klemann, Port Townsend, WA, Brian R. Murphy, Oxnard, CA, Paul H. Murphy, Seattle, WA, Andrea Bekkevar, Sequim, WA, twenty grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul K. Murphy, daughter Maryellen King, and grandsons Dale Endless and Cause Hanna.

A funeral mass for Doris will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Sequim on July 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
