Students at New Day Learning Academy participated in the annual Read to Feed campaign for a month, raising funds by reading to make a difference this year in their own communities. 

At the close of the campaign, the students presented a $400 check on April 28 to Rich and Connie Nordberg for the work they do through the Cool Water Ranch in Port Hadlock. 

Cool Water Ranch is a place of shelter to those in need of a home, and they reach out, with the assistance of Trevor Green, to serve the homeless in the area. The money will help to purchase coats, sleeping bags, tents and supplies to those without shelter, according to the academy. The Nordbergs also provide meals at the winter warming center and hand out breakfast burritos to the hungry.

New Day Learning Academy is located in facilities at Calvary Community Church of Port Townsend and serves students in preschool through early elementary. This fall enrollment is extended into fourth grade.
