The Eagles outlasted the Rivals in girls varsity volleyball last week in a five-set battle on Klahowya’s home court.

The Eagles won the first set, 25-15, and East Jefferson claimed the second by the same score, 25-15.

The teeter-totter continued with the Eagles up in a hard-fought third set, 26-24, with the Rivals rising in the fourth, also finishing in a two-point result, 25-23.

Klahowya won the crucial fifth set 15-5 to record the victory.

“It was a well-fought game and the whole team worked together really well,” said Rivals Coach Emily Zenz.

“Alyssa Vandenverg was on fire getting three blocks in a row and multiple kills all night. Akira Anderson got several kills and kept the team together and motivated the whole time,” the coach added.
