The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 100 calls between Friday, Nov. 18, and Thursday, Nov. 24. Below are selected reports.

At 12:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, in the 400 block of West Sims Way, an employee reported a shoplifter who took more than $1,000 worth of alcohol.

The worker said a tall man wearing a black bandana and beige-and-white coat had stolen 17 boxes of scotch. The employee had photos and videos of the man taking the liquor. The man was unknown to police and there was no vehicle description.

At 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, a stolen car was reported in the 600 block of Clay Street. The black Ford Taurus was parked and left locked in a nearby lot the day before. There is no suspect.

At 1 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, a noise complaint was made in the 1000 block of Water Street after hotel guests complained of loud sounds in the building.

An eatery on the first floor had workers cleaning an air vent at the business. Officers spoke with the two workers. They told police that the eatery had contracted them to clean the vents and the work couldn’t be done during business hours.

The workers didn’t have a permit for a noise ordinance exemption, and the workers were advised to discuss obtaining that permit with the business owner. The workers left soon after.

At 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, in the 1800 block of Sunrise Place, a resident said two propane tanks were stolen overnight. The tanks were outside the home, and the suspected thief is unknown. The tanks were worth $100.

At 10:35 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, an employee in the 2600 block of East Sims Way reported a woman shoplifting.

The woman took a six pack of beer and was wearing a hat and oversized coat. Officers were unable to locate the shoplifter, but the case is under investigation and the woman is known to police.

At 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, in the 2800 block of Washington Street, a boat owner reported a theft.

The day before, someone came to their vessel and took a 150-foot Shure power cord valued at $4,000. There is no suspect information. 

At 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, a resident in the 400 block of Haines Place reported three people tagging a rock near the bus stop.

The resident noted the vandals appeared to be two males and one female tagging the rock.
