The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 100 calls between Friday, Nov. 25, and Thursday, Dec. 1. Below are selected reports.

At 2:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, a vehicle near the Mill Road and West Sims Way intersection was blocking the roadway. Officers located the car and attempted to contact its owner by phone, but no one answered. Officers later tried to contact the owner at home, but nobody answered the door. The vehicle was impounded.

At 3:28 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, in the 200 block of Monroe Street, employees reported a woman screaming and yelling at staff members in a nearby shelter.

Officers contacted the woman, who appeared to be in crisis, and law enforcement worked to find an alternative place for the woman to go for the night. Officers provided transportation for the woman to the hospital.

At 3:51 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at the marina in the 2700 block of Jefferson Street, a caller reported seeing a possibly transient man in the area who appeared to be attempting to steal things.

Officers located the man at a business a few blocks away, and he didn’t appear to be carrying any stolen items. The officers provided resources for the man.

At 3:46 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, a possible burning vehicle was reported in the 1200 block of Lawrence Street after a passerby noticed a warm, flickering light inside a nearby vehicle on the passenger-side compartment.

The passerby was concerned the car could be on fire.

Officers located the vehicle and spoke with the people inside it. They had a fake candle and the people appeared to be living in the car.

At 10:17 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, a business at the marina in the 2700 block of Jefferson Street reported a woman throwing things around and acting strangely.

The woman kept coming onto business property and was talking to people who didn’t exist.

Officers contacted her a couple blocks away, though she refused to stop or speak with them. She dropped her personal possessions, a bag and clothing items, and ran away.

The officers told her that they would leave her items near the road and would depart the scene, considering she hadn’t committed any crimes. The woman appeared to be suffering from mental health issues.

At 12:49 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, in the 400 block of Kearney Street, employees reported a man in their store who was flailing his arms and yelling at others.

After contacting the man, officers determined he was gravely disabled. Considering he was a risk to others and himself, officers detained the man and took him to the hospital for treatment.

At 7:04 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, officers drove to the Sims Way and Rainier Street intersection after a caller reported seeing a woman walking in the area without a jacket or shoes.

The woman appeared to be in her 30s and officers gave her a blanket and water. The officers contacted an outreach program who came to the area to assist the woman.
