A 45-year-old Port Hadlock woman is facing three felony charges of delivery of a controlled substance after a sting operation where an informant allegedly purchased methamphetamine and 27 fentanyl pills.

Summer Irene McCauley was arrested July 6 and booked into Jefferson County Jail. She made her first court appearance Friday and is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges July 21.

The arrest followed a “controlled buy” of illegal drugs that was set up in March by detectives of the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team.

The person who posed as a drug buyer went to the RV where McCauley lives fitted with a recording and transmitting device, according to court records, and detectives listened as the drug deal was completed. 

The buyer told detectives that McCauley had about 1,000 fentanyl pills, along with fentanyl powder and methamphetamine, in her possession.

The drugs that were purchased were sent to the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab, where the blue, M-30 pills tested positive for fentanyl, and the substance thought to be methamphetamine also tested positive. 

A second controlled buy was set up for the following month, using the same task-force informant.

According to court documents, the second illegal drug purchase was conducted in McCauley’s vehicle, and the informant bought fentanyl powder.

Authorities noted that McCauley is currently awaiting trial in Jefferson County Superior Court for a separate charge of delivery of a controlled substance.

According to the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team, a search warrant was obtained after McCauley’s arrest on July 6 and her home and vehicle were searched.

The search yielded approximately 300 suspected fentanyl pills, approximately 4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 4 grams of suspected fentanyl, and a small number of suspected psilocybin mushrooms. A loaded revolver was also found near the suspected controlled substances.

During McCauley’s preliminary appearance in court Friday, Pro tem Judge Micky Forbes set bail at $50,000, cash or bond. 

Conviction of delivery of a controlled substance maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

The Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team is a multi-agency team that includes investigators from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Port Angeles Police Department, Sequim Police Department, Port Townsend Police Department, U.S. Border Patrol, and Homeland Security Investigations.
