Port Townsend Police Department reported a total of 230 calls from Aug. 30 to Sept. 5.  This is a sampling of those calls.

 

Aug. 30: Officers conducted targeted traffic enforcement on an undisclosed area, documenting 17 vehicles with speeds ranging from 20 – 32 mph.

— A theft of a credit card was reported while the victim’s vehicle was parked in a vacant lot on W. Sims Way. Officers identified the thief surveillance video after he used the stolen card at a local store. The suspect was located, arrested and charged with a felony theft and multiple counts of financial fraud.

— A subject on an ITA hold (involuntary treatment act), walked out of the emergency room without being released. The subject was deemed gravely disabled. Officers located the patient and returned him to the hospital.

Aug. 31: A motorist reported a traffic hazard with a shopping cart in the middle of the road on Lawrence St. Officers simply moved the cart out of the roadway.

— Officers responded to a disturbance when a male came into a business on Water St and began yelling at people. The subject left 5 minutes before police were called. Officers checked the area but did not find him. No crime was committed.

— Officers responded to an assault near the Ferry terminal. The RP (reporting party) stated two males were following him and his girlfriend and one made a rude comment towards her. The RP told them to back off when one of the males pushed him and made threats. The two males left the area, and the RP did not want to pursue charges. His main concern was he did not want the suspects to get onto the ferry.

Sept. 1: Police were called when a resident was upset that a neighbor knocked on her door asking her to park between the lines. She claimed this was harassment. No crime occurred as this did not meet the definition of harassment as defined by the RCW.

— A disturbance was reported on Water St. with a male screaming profanities. Officers arrived, recognized the subject and observed him sitting on a bench. This was baseline behavior for this individual. No crime was observed.

— A second disturbance call related to the previous call was reported approximately 30 minutes later. This was only a verbal disturbance.

Sept. 2: Officers responded to a burglar alarm at McDonalds at 1:45 am. The doors were found secure and nothing suspicious.

— Officers conducted 10 traffic stops throughout the city for various violations.

Sept. 3: A single vehicle accident occurred on Discovery Rd. near Hwy 20 when the driver lost control and the vehicle left the roadway hitting a tree. Officers assisted the driver with minor first aid and directed traffic until a tow truck arrived.

— Search and Rescue was activated when a 77-year-old female with Alzheimer’s went for a walk and didn’t return. JCSO Deputies and PTPD Officers worked together, located the female and returned her home.

Sept. 4: A prowler was reported at 2:30 am in the 1200 block of Sheridan Rd. The RP stated someone was prowling around the house and beating on their door. The RP was armed with a gun. Officers searched the area but did not find evidence of a prowler.

— Officers responded to a malicious mischief report when the RP stated someone keyed his truck and smashed his taillight. The RP named a suspect but did not have proof such as video. The case is under investigation.

Sept. 5: Officers conducted 12 traffic stops during the daytime hours, primarily the school zones.

– A driver was issued a criminal citation for driving with a suspended driver’s license. He was also ticketed for no insurance and failing to register the vehicle.
