This group of worldly hikers was at Safeway in Port Townsend on Tuesday, Sept. 3, to pick up supplies before getting back on the Pacific Trail the next day.

The group, which was down to the last 20% of the trip, preferred to use a mix of real and trail names, such as (left to right) Delia “Scratchy,” Elliot “Beats” Pacheco, Timon, and Ben “Mash.”

Scratchy and Timon had come from “the middle” of Switzerland, Mash from Bedford near London, and Pacheco from New Jersey.

The groceries cost more than $500, which didn’t include groceries belonging to a fifth friend, still inside paying.
