Law enforcement had been searching for Timothy Colin Connor in the hours before he was fatally shot by an officer in Brinnon last week, the Washington State Patrol said Friday.
Connor, 49, was shot after he pulled out a handgun as two sheriff deputies were trying to arrest him on an outstanding warrant, the Washington State Patrol said Friday.
Court records also indicate Connor was being sought for trial on allegations of second-degree child molestation in Kitsap County.
The deadly shooting happened at 2:44 p.m. Sept. 23 near U.S. Highway 101 and Dosewallips Road.
The investigation into the shooting is being conducted by the Washington State Patrol.
The two deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office who were involved in the incident were identified Friday as Sergeant Ryan Menday and Detective Brian Anderson.
According to the State Patrol, Anderson was conducting a follow-up investigation on Connor’s vehicle, which had been previously involved in a hit-and-run crash.
Anderson discovered Connor was wanted on a warrant, but when the detective tried to arrest him, Connor fled the area.
Connor came back a few hours later to the area where he had been stopped by Anderson, and then crashed his vehicle into a parked occupied vehicle.
In an email to The Leader, Sgt. Chelsea Hodgson of the Washington State Patrol, said Connor fled from the scene on foot.
When Connor was confronted by the two deputies, he pulled out a gun.
At the time of the confrontation in Brinnon last week, Connor was listed on Kitsap County Sheriff's Office's "Most Wanted List" and was facing charges of second-degree child molestation.
Connor, who lived in Bremerton, was arraigned in Kitsap County Superior Court Oct. 15, 2018 on the allegation, and had entered a pleading of not guilty.
Connor's trial had been scheduled to take place in June 2020, but was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to court records.
His trial was eventually rescheduled for Feb. 22, then reset for April 11.
A bench warrant for Connor's arrest, with bail set at $100,000, was issued by a Kitsap County Superior Court judge on April 11 when Connor failed to appear in court.
The court case was dismissed in Kitsap County on Tuesday, Sept. 27 after Kitsap County Superior Court was notified that Connor was deceased.
