Lester Noah Young

June 22, 1940 - April 28, 2023

Les was born in Fremont, Ohio on June 22, 1940 to Carol and Elise Young. The Young family later made a marathon trip out west to Tucson, Ariz.

Les attended school in Tucson and after graduation went into the Army. At 6’5” tall I guess they thought he should go into the military police. He received two medals: one in Rifle and the other in Pistol. After training he was sent to Vietnam. Upon returning home, he used his GI Loan to attend the University of Arizona. Les was very talented and became a wonderful artist.

Later Les was hired by the State of Arizona in the Planning Department where he worked as a Drafting Technician. Following retirement, he moved to Port Townsend, Wash. where he worked for some time for the Jefferson Department Road Department.

On October 3, 2008, he married Sharon A. Cadero at the Kauai Coast Resort in Kapaa, Hawaii. After their marriage they joined the Rakers Car Club. Les had a 1935 Ford and Sharon a 1928 Ford Street Rod. They were in over 100 car shows with many first place trophies throughout the state. When they were out driving, the car couldn’t pass a casino.

They loved to dance and spent a lot of time at the Port Townsnend Elks Club 317. You never saw one without the other.

Les is survived by his loving wife Sharon and two brothers in Tucson, Ariz., Jon Young and Gordon and Fran Young. Additionally, he is survived by three stepchildren Phillip and Fran Cadero, Lisa and Paul Cadero Smith, and Gina and Randy Holeman; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
