Passed away unexpectedly, at home with his wife by his side, three days after their 62nd wedding anniversary and 17 days after the passing of his son Blaine.

Johnny was born in Seattle to Raymond and Barbara Roulst. He was the oldest of six children. Growing up in Rainier Valley he attended Franklin High School, then Rainier Beach High where he met and married his sweetheart Kathi. They had three beloved son’s, and moved around while he worked as a Boilermaker in Seattle Local 104, then 502.

He was a talented and professional working man, admired for his work skills and knowledge of his trade. In 1975, he moved his family out of the city, bought four acres in Center Valley and started homesteading. Working in Alaska to pay for his land, then taking classes at the U.W. to learn how to build a cozy two story log cabin. With the help of his family, he cut cedar tree’s from his land and began building in 1976. He was also a successful fisherman, hunter, gatherer, grower and a real “ace of trades” at home, able to fix anything.

Johnny had a passion for life and a generous heart. Most of all, he was proud of his beloved son’s, who he loved to be with hunting elk, fishing, shellfish gathering and sitting by a camp fire, telling old stories, remembering past adventures and planning the next ones. He was looking forward to his 80th Birthday and getting ready for the season’s King Salmon opening.

He is survived by his wife Kathi, son’s Shane Roulst and Roman Roulst, Daughter-in-law Lisa (Beckman) Roulst, Four Grandchildren Lindsay (Jared) Shepherd, Elijah (Jessica) Roulst, Haiden Roulst and Peyton Roulst. Four Great-Grandchildren Mason, Ethan and Crew Shepherd and Sawyer Roulst. All who he dearly loved. He has four siblings, Peach (Tom) Thompson, Michael (Sharon) Roulst, Frank Roulst, Ricky (Kelly) Roulst and Sandra (Jon) Teady (deceased). Many nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family and many wonderful friends.

His was a life well lived. The family wishes to thank the many E.M.T’s who tried so hard to keep him going.
