John Charles Kuller was born in Rochester, New York to John and Margaret Kuller on Oct. 22, 1931. John passed away in Portland, Oregon on April 5, 2022, at 90 years of age due to congestive heart failure.

John’s family moved to Prattsburg, New York when John was very young. John had fond memories of growing up along with his little sister Dorothy in the farmlands. They learned how to ride a horse, raise chickens, and enjoyed hiking the many creeks in the area,

John graduated from the University of Illinois in 1952 with an accounting degree and took a job with Chrysler Motors in Detroit. After three months, Uncle Sam asked him to report for duty. John was stationed in Germany which proved to be very fortuitous. It was there that he met Elizabeth (Betty) McGahan, a nurse in the U.S. Army. After their tours of duty, John and Betty would marry in 1958. Their son Bruce was born in 1959 and James followed in 1961.

John started his career with Kodak Corporation after his honorable discharge from the Army. John and Betty had homes in Rochester, New York; Atlanta, Georgia; and San Francisco, California during John’s career. They retired in Port Townsend, Washington. John decided to keep his hand in business and thus was voted president of the Kala Point Homeowners Association for several years. During this time, John also enjoyed working as a consultant.

John and Betty also traveled extensively in retirement, visiting every continent except Antarctica. John and Betty said many times they felt deeply blessed and had no regrets over their 60-plus years of life together. They requested an Irish wake and their ashes spread over seawater with the ashes of their beloved dogs.

John’s wife Betty and his sister Dorothy predeceased him. John is survived by his sons Bruce (Bernadette) and James (Nancy); grandsons Brad (Rebekah) and Patrick; great-grandsons Pierce and Patrick; brother-in-law James and sister-in-law Sandi McGahan.
