The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 230 calls for service between Saturday, July 2 and Friday, July 8. Below are selected reports.

At 7:53 p.m. Sunday, July 3 in Nordland, a caller reported hearing six gunshots.

Residents were having ongoing issues with a neighbor who has a history of shooting on his property and aiming at propane tanks.

The caller said the noise was worrying the other residents and frightening their animals.

A deputy responded and parked for 30 minutes to listen for any gunshots. One “pop” noise was heard, but nothing else.

At 12:37 p.m. Monday, July 4 in Brinnon, a caller said a neighbor was deliberately lighting fireworks and throwing them over the fence onto her property.

She said she had caught him on video and also had burn marks on her deck. She also said she wanted to stay anonymous and did not want a deputy to come to her door because the neighbor would know she had made a complaint.

She insisted that a deputy not identify her, and finally told the deputy it wasn’t his problem. She added, “Have a good day,” and hung up.

At 3:49 p.m. Monday, July 4 in Port Hadlock, a caller said the back window of a vehicle had been smashed out that morning.

A deputy responded and found a cracked rear window, but nothing that would indicate how the damage occurred. The vehicle was backed up and the caller had already put tape over the crack.
