Jefferson County Sheriff's Log | Nasty note

Posted

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 230 calls for service between Saturday, July 9 and Friday, July 15. Below are selected reports.

At 1:59 p.m. Thursday, July 14, an employee of the county assessor’s office told the sheriff’s office of a visit to a home in Port Ludlow.

The employee knocked on the door and did not get an answer. The assessment was made and the worker left a card on the door.

The employee reported getting a call from the resident, who said if they came back he would have them arrested for trespassing or shoot them.

The resident was sent a letter explaining that the assessor’s office had a right to physically inspect properties.

At 3:39 p.m. Friday, July 15 in Port Hadlock, a resident reported a burglary and had information on a suspect.

A deputy went to the home and found a screen that had been partially removed.

A note was found on the kitchen table.

The note was written in a juvenile’s handwriting and disparaging remarks were made about a person who lived there.

It appeared the intruder had not fully entered the home, but had pulled back the screen far enough to reach inside and leave the note.

The suspect is a 16-year-old boy. The person who was the subject of the note asked law enforcement not to immediately contact the boy because she feared his behavior would escalate.

At 5:53 p.m. Friday, July 15 in Port Hadlock, a woman reported an ongoing issue with her daughter’s ex-boyfriend.

She said she was attempting to get a court order to prevent any future contact.

The boyfriend had a history of stealing from her and her late husband, she said, and there was an earlier incident where he took the daughter’s dog and the caller had to go and get it back from the ex.

The ex-boyfriend had sent recent texts saying that he was going to go to law enforcement to claim the woman was stealing from him.
