The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 207 calls for service between Friday, Dec. 2 and Friday, Dec. 9. Below are selected reports.
At 11:50 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9 in Port Hadlock, a caller at a business said he received a threatening text from a man who said he was going to come to his house and assault him.
The suspect is the ex-girlfriend’s, ex-husband’s brother, but the caller said he didn’t really know him.
In the text message, the brother said he was going to break the man’s jaw and fingers if he didn’t stop texting his brother.
The caller said he had gone back and forth with the man who sent the message, and the conversation was hostile.
The caller told a deputy he would do whatever he needed to do to defend himself, and that the brother had also threatened to kill him but was not specific about how he would do it.
A deputy talked to the suspect’s brother, who was with the suspect when he made the call, and said there was no mention of any killing, but that his brother did threaten to “kick his ass” when he sent texts to the man who had contacted his brother.
The man also said the person who had called authorities had insinuated he would accept an out-of-court cash settlement as an alternative to pressing charges.
At 2:42 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 in Port Hadlock, a woman called to report a case of animal abuse.
She said she didn’t know the exact address but said there was an ongoing issue of a dog and goat that were suffering from neglect.
The dog had been left outside tied up, without food or water, no matter what the weather was like.
Animal control responded and could find no evidence of a crime.
The woman thanked the officer for responding and said she would call back if needed.
