The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 267 calls for service between Saturday, July 16 and Friday, July 22. Below are selected reports.

At 12:58 a.m. Monday, July 18 in Port Hadlock, a man’s fiancee called law enforcement to say he was being harassed.

Doors and windows were being knocked on.

At 5:04 p.m. Monday, July 18 in Port Hadlock, dispatchers received a 911 hang-up call.

A dispatcher called back and was told an assault had occurred the night before. A woman said she had been slapped in the face and also punched.

She was then thrown to the ground and her attacker sat on her.

She said the assailant was drunk at the time of the report. He also destroyed her phone.

The woman only wanted to report the assault and said she was considering getting a protection order.

At 5:23 p.m. Monday, July 18 in Chimacum, a man said he was just assaulted by his neighbor, who is squatting on the property.

The caller said he confronted the man and told him the property was not a campground.

Authorities determined the squatter was wanted on a $10,000 arrest warrant out of Kitsap County, but Kitsap authorities did not want to take custody of the man.

The caller said the squatter’s girlfriend said she tried to throw a cup of urine on the caller’s girlfriend.

The woman was contacted and admitted she would do it if she could.

The girlfriend said she would leave the area.

The caller said the squatter had punched him in the face, but no injuries could be observed.

The squatter denied punching the man in the face, and said the caller had stabbed his door with a sword a month earlier.

The caller admitted owning a sword, but denied stabbing the door with the weapon.

Both parties were advised to stay away from each other and to get protection orders from court.

At 8:06 p.m. Monday, July 18 in Port Hadlock, a caller said six mini-storage units had possibly been broken into.

A deputy started an investigation into the incident.
