Don passed away on May 15, 2024, at his home in Chimacum Washington surrounded by his family. He was born on March 30th, 1934, in Chicago Ill., To Louis and Clara Hasley. Don attended school there and graduated from Hirsch High School in 1952. After his second year of college, Don found himself at North Dakota State college on a football scholarship. That lasted only one winter and was the reason he was in Miami Beach Florida on vacation, when he started his professional career. In 1958 Don was hired by the City of Miami Beach police Department and retired in 1991 with the rank of Major and with a BA in criminal Justice from Florida International University in Miami.

He was preceded in death by both parents and his sister Barbara. His only child is RaeLena Hasley Jones living in Springfield, MO, and his Niece Donna Magaril in Naples Florida.

Once becoming a resident of Port Townsend, WA. He became a member of the volunteer group of 70+ year olds that built the Fred Lewis Log Cabin on Discovery Road. After the cabin, which took more than 5 years to complete, he did two years of volunteer service for Jefferson Health Care in the Oncology Department. It was because Don was a member of the Port Townsend Elks Lodge #317 that he became aware of the needs of the community programs that needed help. Don was a generous donor. It was also at the Lodge that he met his Wife Peggy Boland. Don enjoyed playing dice with the retired cops on Wednesdays at the Elks Lodge and telling stories about his life “On the Job!”

Peggy has three children and their son in-law: Samuel Swanson, Richard Swanson, Angela Cossell and Bobby Cossell. We will all miss him and think of him often. We would like to Thank Dr. Abar and the Oncology Department at Jefferson Healthcare.
