Michael Carroll will share an evening of classical piano at Trinity United Methodist Church’s next Candlelight Concert.
The series continues at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23 for one set with no intermission. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
The concert will include musical selections from some of the classical greats, including Mozart, Schubert, and Chopin.
“I tried to decide if there was a theme that would suggest why these composers go together, but I couldn’t except for the fact that they are all among the best piano pieces of their respective composers,” Carroll explained.
Admission to the concert is free, with a suggested donation of $15 per person. Half of the proceeds will go to Carroll’s chosen charity, Jefferson County Foodbanks, which has a mission to serve county residents by providing food to those in need in an equitable manner while maintaining an attitude and atmosphere that recognizes the dignity of each individual.
The performance will also be streamed live online at trinityumcpt.org/concerts, and the web page also includes a link for the Candlelight Concerts Online and ways to donate. The concert will also be simulcast on KPTZ FM 91.9.
Carroll began piano study when he was 8 and studied with several teachers, most notably Robert Van Meter at Clarion State College in Pennsylvania.
Since moving to Seattle in 1990 (he now lives in Port Ludlow), Carroll has played numerous recitals and chamber music performances and concertos by Haydn, Mozart, Poulenc, and Bartok. As an experienced choral and vocal accompanist, he performed with many Seattle ensembles and soloists. Carroll was also the staff pianist and program annotator for Seattle’s Thalia Symphony Orchestra for a decade.
Recent performances include chamber music with cellist Pamela Roberts, and upcoming concerts include local solo recitals and a concerto performance with the Poulsbo Community Orchestra in March.
Trinity United Methodist Church is located at 609 Taylor St., across from the Community Center, in Uptown. Attendees should plan on arriving early, and masks are required for in-person attendees.
