Art league celebrates artist, jeweler for June

Gail Larson is the Port Ludlow Art League’s Artist of the Month for June.

Pamela Raine has earned Jeweler of the Month honors.

Larson, a Signature Member of the National Collage Society, has worked with oils and watercolor for many years. She is currently focusing on acrylic, mixed media, and collage, and the league noted that acrylic and collage has become the best media match for her abstract art.

Generally working with a limited palette, Larson selects appropriate colors for the theme and makes design, value, and movement her main focus.

The artist’s creations will be on display at the Sound Community Bank in June, and also online at portludlowart.org.

An artist’s reception is planned for 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 14 in the lobby of the bank, and also from 5 to 6 p.m. at the adjacent Port Ludlow Art League Gallery. The bank and gallery are located at the corner of Oak Bay Road and Osprey Ridge Drive in Port Ludlow.

Raine recently returned from a trip to Sicily, where she was able to shop for distinctive Murano Millefiori glass beads. The beads feature a dazzling rainbow of patterns and colors, and Raine has fashioned a collection of necklaces and earrings with the exceptional beads.

Her jewelry will be on display in June at the Port Ludlow Art League Gallery, Sound Community Bank, and online at portludlowart.org.

The Port Ludlow Art League has also announced that beginning in June, the gallery will be open from noon to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.
