Artist Javier “Spanky Loco” Silva, Jr. has built a life in Kitsap County and beyond, intertwining art, cultural heritage, and his aspiration to pave a secure path for youth. He will discuss the seamless integration of these endeavors and how they manifest in the process and content of the installation at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. The event will include an audience Q&A and a conversation with Daniel Frederick, Executive Director of Coffee Oasis.

Artist Javier “Spanky Loco” Silva, Jr. was born in West Los Angeles, CA. He has transformed an early passion for comic books and art into an international brand featuring his painting, music, tattooing, and installations. His nonprofit, L.O.C.O.S. (Leading Our Children Off Streets) gives youth the tools to become artists and independent businesses owners in the tattoo and art field. His large scale installation is featured as part of the BIMA Día de los Muertos exhibition.
