Suzanne Ames has been named the next president of Peninsula College, board of trustees chair Mike Glenn announced Friday.
Ames is currently Vice President of Instruction at Lake Washington Institute of Technology in Kirkland.
“Dr. Ames has worked her entire career preparing for this opportunity and we could not be more pleased she will be the next President of Peninsula College,” Glenn said.
“Her open, collaborative leadership style and commitment to teaching and learning will be a great asset to the college community,” he added.
Ames will start work sometime around July 1, and replaces Luke Robins, who assumed the role as the college’s president in 2012.
Ames was among a pool of four finalists who met the community through public forums earlier this month. All four candidates participated in online meetings with faculty, staff, students, and the public across four sessions from April 11 through
April 19.
Peninsula College officials said Ames accepted the position Friday, with contract negotiations with the board following.
Negotiations on an employment agreement typically take about a week or two, officials said, and a proposed salary will be set in the contract.
Ames earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership for Change from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, California; a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from City University in Seattle; and two bachelor degrees in communications and political science from the University of Washington.
