Jefferson County Commissioner Greg Brotherton was winning his re-election bid to the District 3 seat on the board of county commissioners after the first vote tally on Election Night.
Brotheron, the Democratic Party incumbent, had 68.12 percent of the vote in the initial count Nov. 8.
Marcia Kelbon, the Republican contender for the position, had 31.81 percent of the vote.
A total of 15,343 ballots have been counted so far in the race.
Brotherton and Kelbon emerged as the front-runners in the three-way race for the District 3 seat in August's Primary Election, with Brotherton easily outpacing his two Republican challengers with 54.99 percent of the race. Kelbon had finished with 32 percent in the Primary. Jon Cooke was the third person in the race and pulled in 12.8 percent.
Tuesday night's initial results show the dynamic has not changed in the three months since the primary. Brotherton's lead over Kelbon on Election Night was 5,570 votes.
Brotherton, 49, is a former Quilcene businessman and school board member. He was elected to the District 3 position in 2018.
Kelbon, 62, is a 40-year resident of the area and has worked as an engineer, patent attorney, and corporate executive.
