A 25-year-old Vancouver, Washington man was jailed on six potential charges, including three felonies, after allegedly ramming police vehicles during a 100 mph car chase from Discovery Bay to south county Saturday.
Bryce Taylor Hanna was booked into Jefferson County Jail just after 3 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 after being arrested for allegedly eluding a police vehicle and assaulting a police officer.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Hanna rammed two deputy patrol vehicles with his rental car as he tried to get away and also drove across the yard of a home in Quilcene during his failed attempt to escape.
The pursuit began after two deputies near Discovery Bay saw a driver going approximately 100 mph in a 45 mph zone.
Hanna allegedly tried to speed away from deputies, who followed him as he fled toward Quilcene at speeds estimated by police between 80 and 100 mph.
Deputies put spike strips across the road near Lords Lake Loop Road as Hanna continued trying to flee at speeds of 100 mph in a 30 mph zone.
He slowed near Milepost 295, according to the Sheriff's Office, when one of the tires on his vehicle deflated.
A deputy initiated a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) with his patrol car to stop Hanna from continuing, but the vehicle spun out and Hanna continued to flee.
After two additional PIT maneuvers, Hanna drove through the yard of a home in Quilcene, and then rammed two deputy patrol vehicles with his rental vehicle.
One of the sheriff's vehicles was occupied by a deputy at the time, authorities said.
No officers were hurt in the chase, however, and Hanna was taken into custody.
He was arrested for attempting to elude a police vehicle, assault on a law enforcement officer, third-degree driving while license suspended, and malicious mischief for the damage of the yard in Quilcene.
Hanna also had several warrants for his arrest; two for being a fugitive from justice in another state.
The passenger, a 49-year-old Lynwood resident, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Hanna was booked into the Jefferson County Jail in Port Hadlock at 3:17 a.m. Feb. 20.
