My letter is regarding vaccines with elderly in low income senior residences. I was thinking that many senior residents like myself may have difficulty getting to vaccination appointments.
At lot of senior citizens, like myself (80 years a senior) here in Port Townsend live in low-income housing and it can be difficult for many of us to get out to make a vaccine appointment. No car available, severe disabilities. And it is very difficult for a lot of us to get out to do chores.
So I think to assure the safety and accomplishment of vaccines getting to seniors, either the health department, hospital or whoever’s in charge of the distribution here should organize a task force to visit these seniors’ housing units and deliver the vaccine to those who qualify.
I believe most of the seniors in Marine Plaza where I live, some 40 seniors, are of age or disability to qualify.
This type of procedure will guarantee we vaccinate most all seniors who may encounter log jams getting to appointment places and times. And we could keep a comprehensive record of those vaccinated and offer a list of second doses needed.
The whole process could probably be accomplished for a couple of hours in each complex; think how much easier for all involved this could be!
All around I see this as a win-win situation for all involved.
It would be less expensive for all parties and serve the mandates of those required to vaccinate. There are several low-income seniors in housing units here in PT.
How many people here remember my grandfather’s Hudson garage repair where the Co-Op now sits ?
OK, thanks for the opportunity to comment.
