Blake R. Fox was booked Saturday afternoon for second-degree murder in Jefferson County Jail, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Fox was identified as the main suspect in the shooting death of Robin L. Richards, 62, of Quilcene.
Fox, 37, of Port Townsend, allegedly shot Richards late Friday night in Quilcene.
Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were called by a witness just after midnight who said Fox had shot a man and fled the scene in a red 2008 Ford F-150 pickup.
Richards was found unconscious by deputies after their arrival at the site of the shooting, near McInnis Road and East Quilcene Road, and died at the scene.
The fatal shooting prompted an intensive search for Fox Saturday morning.
Authorities posted Fox’s driver’s license photo and a photograph to social media of the type of Ford pickup he drove from the scene, warning the public that he was considered armed and dangerous, was paranoid and believed to be under the influence of drugs.
"I was concerned with him being out, being that he had guns and everything," said Jefferson County Sheriff Joe Nole.
The crime scene remains under investigation, with members of the sheriff’s office and the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab processing evidence.
The sheriff delivered bagels to deputies at the scene about 2 p.m. Saturday.
Fox is being held without bail.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office released a photograph on social media of Fox being booked into jail Saturday afternoon.
Authorities have not suggested a motive for the shooting.
