UPDATE | Residents throughout Port Hadlock heard explosions; one resident expected to find 'big hole in the middle of the street'

Posted

The Port Hadlock man who lost an arm after a homemade bomb explosion overnight was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon, according to a spokesperson for Harborview Medical Center.

Port Hadlock resident Jesse Thomas Taylor wasn’t the only person injured in the blast. Taylor's 6-year-old granddaughter also sustained burns to her head, authorities said.

Neighbors of the property described hearing at least one explosion, with some saying they could feel the concussion thousands of feet away. Some said they heard multiple blasts.

Scott Clements, was near the waterfront in Port Hadlock when he heard explosions.

"I heard the explosions and then I heard all of the emergency vehicles, like a ton of them," Clements said. "It was different from a single firework going off."

Kyla Pope said she lives near QFC and was playing video games when she heard the blasts.

“I felt it, my house shook and my mom was screaming at my brother, asking him if he’d heard it,” she said. “Me and my mom walked out on the back porch and could see the smoke coming up from where it was.”

Lawrence Columbia, who lives over at the B&R Mobile Home Court in Port Hadlock, was watching TV when he said he was rousted by a blast he could only describe as “grenade-like.”

“I came out on the porch because I didn’t know if it was an accident or what. I was expecting to see a big hole in the middle of the street,” he said. “I felt the concussion from here.”

Emergency dispatchers were flooded with calls just after 9:30 p.m. June 15 reporting the explosions. Some of the callers also said they saw large flames and smoke.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, one person who called 911 reported that a man had been found on the property with a chest injury and fully amputated left arm.

Detectives responding to the scene in the 700 block of Ness' Corner Road also found homemade explosives, including what appeared to be pipe bombs and improvised explosive devices. The bombs and other material were found in an outbuilding on the property. Responding deputies and firefighters found a structure behind a home that was fully enveloped in fire.

A search warrant was obtained and the FBI and Washington State Patrol bomb squad was called in to assist local detectives.

Taylor is a Port Hadlock resident and has lived on Ness' Corner Road since October 2016, according to voter registration records.

The sheriff’s office, in a post on social media, said charges were expected to be forwarded to the county prosecutor’s office.

It is good to see 3 updates on a single story. Within a day. Oh, that this were the case with other more political stories. Might keep someone like myself from attempting to keep conversations on track and updated some challenged to use critical thought.

Did the outgoing board of the FWPDA hand over the most profitable aspect of its portfolio to an undisclosed board and undisclosed non profit? Was there an open process to insure the people of the State benefited from profits? Critical thinking and updates to story needed.

Who is the selection committee for the new FWPDA board? Who selected them? Is the Appointed Mayor and City Council that ignored audits and concerns by the State of too low rents by "partners" fit to do final selection? For ALL of the people of the State? Critical thinking and updates needed.

Will there be a SEPA regarding the new proposed addition to the Maritime Center that removes more parking owned by the Port and not used due to free illegal parking sponsored by the City and adds more need for parking? Oh what a tangled web.... Critical thought process needed. Can a SEPA, a city process assessing impacts, be critical of itself? Critical thinking and updates needed.

Marge asks how much was paid for the Swan Hotel by the Maritime Center. I am told by a guest yesterday that it has only 4 units once had 8. Very nice units. Cost per unit? Cost per night? Serving only the most wealthy of guests? Upscale digs for Maritime Center guests? Same track as the FWPDA and glamping? Play with toy boats in the hot tubs? Not a working class boat trade barracks or dorms at all. Critical thinking and updates needed. Fireplaces, water views, and hot tubs perhaps not needed. By working class folk. My thought is to be critical of this whole thing.

I could go on and on, but folks like Kay Ossian and Joe King that call me names might become irritated. Critical of me, with no thoughts on specifics, except false narratives. False narratives need constant updating and critical thought.

Great to see that update technology exists. Does critical thinking by some with power and most of the public? Murder and mayhem stories can always serve to distract from more complex stories impacting all. Critical thought needed so much, for so many local issues with connected root causes. Leadership, of lack thereof.

As in the Cherry Street money pit and so many others. Buried in the news cycles. No updates.

I am glad the innocent little girl was not more severely injured. What world does the innocent little girl inherit?

Oh, yes, Harvey. Only _you_ can properly ascertain the problems of this city and only you can fix them. Where have we heard this before, recently...?

Also: A hit dog howls.

It was really so nice when you were gone. Although, hilariously, there were some pretty long-winded and typically rambling/ranting comments in your so-called "absence". You seem to be really focused on whether screen names are "real" or not. How many are YOU using? You don't fool anyone but yourself. Your kind seem to live and die on the dull sword of projection.

Another generalized attempt to avoid specifics. Why not take on one specific thing I mentioned and provide some feedback with some solutions of your own. My purpose is to provide some counter dialogue and attempt to get folks to break past superficial understanding. I always ask to be specifically corrected. Folks like you KO don't deal in specifics.

Many are hit dogs and collateral damage in PT. Few howl. Many whine. Some just want the dogs to shut up and take it.

This is just to annoy those that get irritated by questions they can't answer, and can only provide rambling/ranting attacks on the messenger.

If you speak with Kay Ossian "KO" there was a question unanswered in another stream regarding parking. If this sounds like rambling to you, it also would to a feces flinging chimp.

Answer Kay or KO-- If the party line is that enforcing 2 hour posted limits harms all visitors being able to leisurely eat, shop, and play, how are they to know not to follow posted limits any non corrupted City would enforce? What of accountant businesses, my business that sees many focused visitors, insurance businesses, attorneys, and so many others? That need turn over to have customer access?

The answer for Kay and others comes from an educated person who escaped from North Korea--- You are not my audience KO. Dude looks like a lady and thinks like a 3 year old. I do strive to be entertaining and informative.

This is what explains Kay's rambling attacks.

"The people here (US) are just dying to give their rights and power to the government. That is what scares me the most," the human right activist said.

"In North Korea I literally believed that my Dear Leader [Kim Jong-un] was starving," she recalled. "He's the fattest guy - how can anyone believe that? And then somebody showed me a photo and said 'Look at him, he's the fattest guy. Other people are all thin.' And I was like, 'Oh my God, why did I not notice that he was fat?' Because I never learned how to think critically."

"That is what is happening in America," she continued. "People see things but they've just completely lost the ability to think critically."

Now, who does the deconstruction of parking education, planning, and enforcement benefit? Who is "fat" here?

Kay??????? Put down the feces Kay.

Quick explanation- Kay said in this story link below- "People often sing " dude looks like a lady when they walk by me". Mama Tried".

I fully support dudes who look like ladies and ladies who look like dudes and those who just aren't sure. Fully. Didn't want my out of context reference here to fuel any outrage.

I do not support those who think like 3 year old's and fling feces at me after exhibiting gross reading comprehension deficits. I also support those folks. Who don't throw feces at me. Like Steven Tyler, sometimes you just have to laugh and have fun. This game is so rigged.

Answer the question Kay, everyone is waiting.
