A 59-year-old Klamath, California man was injured after he rolled his 1999 Dodge pickup truck on U.S. Highway 101 Saturday morning north of Quilcene.

The man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following the crash, which happened just after 9:30 a.m. Dec. 5, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The State Patrol said the driver was headed north on Highway 101 when he lost control due to icy road conditions near Milepost 292. The truck rolled several times, then landed on its wheels about 50 feet off the roadway on the north side of the highway.

The cause of the crash was driving too fast for conditions.

The Dodge was totaled and was removed from the scene by Northwest Towing & Recovery.

The mishap was followed by another rollover crash an hour later on the same stretch of Highway 101.

The State Patrol said a 39-year-old Lacey man in a 2007 Toyota Tacoma pickup was driving past the crash scene and was directed to go around emergency vehicles on the highway.

When the driver passed the other vehicles and moved back into the northbound lane, the driver started to fishtail due to the icy road conditions.

The Toyota rolled over once, then landed on its wheels in the ditch next to the southbound lane of the highway. The driver, as well as a 34-year-old Lacy woman who was a passenger in the Toyota, escaped injury.

The truck was totaled in the crash and was towed by All City Auto Body & Towing.
