Two new COVID-19 deaths in Jefferson County

Two more Jefferson County residents have died from the coronavirus and the total number of COVID-19 cases in Jefferson County hit 1,000 Thursday, according to Jefferson County Public Health.

The two new fatalities attributed to COVID-19 raised the death toll from the disease in Jefferson County to 15.

A dozen cases of COVID have been confirmed in the county since Tuesday, Sept. 28.

A total of 41 residents were still in active isolation Thursday.

There have been 32,350 tests for COVID-19 in Jefferson County since the start of the pandemic, and 31,277 have resulted in negative results.

Test results were still pending Thursday for 73 residents.

In Jefferson County, 779 people have recovered from COVID-19. (People are considered "recovered" at 28 days from the onset of symptoms if they are alive and not hospitalized, according to the state Department of Health.)
