Jefferson Transit officials are considering giving employees who worked through the COVID-19 pandemic hazard pay.
The Jefferson Transit Authority Board was scheduled to meet early this week, and included on the board’s agenda is a vote on a one-time payment of $1,500 to all current employees who worked during the pandemic.
A resolution for hazard pay, as well as a “memorandum of understanding” with Amalgamated Transit Union Local 587 over the bonus pay, was scheduled for a discussion by board members at their Feb. 15 meeting.
If approved, the one-time payment is expected to total approximately $69,000 and will be covered by the agency’s Operating Fund.
The union signed off on the memorandum of understanding in December.
