The Navy will have a security training exercise at Naval Magazine Indian Island on Thursday.
The training will take place near the installation’s main gate, according to the Navy, and the entrance may be temporarily closed for a short period of time.
Navy officials said the gate closure is expected to have minimal impact on traffic in the area.
Residents who live near the installation may hear increased noise due to the training, which the Navy said will include the use of loud sirens and announcements broadcasted from the base’s loudspeaker notification system.
Security training is scheduled regularly at Naval Magazine Indian Island and other Navy installations around the world, and the security exercises are conducted to maintain readiness and verify response procedures.
