Going into a weekend of smoke and fire, Jefferson County fire chiefs made the decision to turn up the heat on the burn ban.
Due to the increasingly hazardous fire risk, the burn ban in Jefferson County has now been upgraded to completely restrict campfires and barbecues. This includes no outdoor fires, burning, or discharge of firearms or fireworks.
Propane is still allowed.
The burn ban will continue through Sept. 30 or until further notice.
