Travelers between Port Angeles and Lake Crescent on US Highway 101 will face traffic slowdowns this week as contractor crews continue to work on the Indian Creek Bridge fish barrier removal project.
The temporary bypass bridge will be closed for intermittent 20-minute traffic stops for bridge girder setting from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22.
All traffic will be stopped during the shutdown.
State transportation officials said the closures will allow crews to bring over girders for the new bridge. Girders serve as the backbone of a bridge.
Eight total closures lasting up to 20 minutes are required to bring in the girders to the new bridge.
