The Quimper Geological Society will host marine geologist Chris Goldfinger (Oregon State University) for a Zoom presentation at the society’s next meeting.
Goldfinger will explore the relationship of offshore turbidites to the paleoseismic record of the Cascadia Subduction Zone, as well as other locations. He has made more than 45 oceanographic cruises using geophysical tools to assist the understanding of what clues earthquake-generated submarine deposits (turbidites) give about large earthquake frequency for the Pacific Northwest.
The meeting is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. Register for the Zoom-only presentation and ask questions at quimpergeology.org.
