The Port Townsend School District’s local Skillmation group has earned a Regional Award from the Washington Association of School Administrators.

Skillmation has been partnering with the school district for more than five years. The program provides after-school tutoring and mentor students in projects ranging from the freshman “Market Day” to the senior symposium.

Last year, Skillmation expanded its annual career fair to include other districts in Jefferson County, recruiting almost 100 local employers to be part of an in-person fair for high schoolers in Chimacum, Port Townsend, and Quilcene.

“Skillmation’s work is to inspire young people and help launch their lives by sharing in the community’s wealth of knowledge that comes with time and experience,” said Skillmation board member Martha Trolin. “We were very honored to have that work celebrated at the WASA Awards and are thankful to the WASA Board as well as our own Port Townsend School District.”
