Seattle man enters pleading of not guilty to charge of child rape

A 33-year-old Seattle man was arraigned Friday on a charge of third-degree child rape in Jefferson County Superior Court.

Justin James Wold was arrested and booked into Jefferson County Jail on June 22. He remains in custody on $25,000 bail.

Prosecutors allege Wold had sex with the victim in early January 2014 when he was 24 and she was 14.

Wold was living at his father’s house in Port Townsend at the time.

The girl said she had been having sexual contact with Wold and became pregnant and gave birth to a son in September 2014. The victim also claimed Wold knew she was 14.

The case was referred to the Port Townsend Police Department in November 2020 after the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services sent police a sexual misconduct report.

State authorities sent the report after the victim filed a child support request, according to court documents.

The victim also said she had not earlier reported Wold as the biological father of her son on his birth certificate because she was worried about Wold’s reaction and that he would get in trouble.

Wold entered a pleading of not guilty to the felony charge during a short court appearance Friday.

Superior Court Judge Keith Harper set the start of the trial for Aug. 29.
