Steve Tharinger was well in front in the race for the Legislative District 24, Position 2 seat to the Washington State House of Representatives, according to preliminary results on Election Night.
Tharinger, the Democratic Party incumbent lawmaker, had 18,492 votes cast in his favor, or 54.12 percent of all ballots counted so far.
Tharinger led over his Republican challenger Brian Pruiett, who received 13,318 votes cast, or 38.98 percent, as well as Democratic challenger Darren Corcoran, who received 2,318 votes, or 6.78 percent.
The two candidates in the race with the most votes in Tuesday's primary will advance to the 2022 General Election in November.
A total of 34,169 votes were counted in the first tally on Aug. 2, according to the Washington State Secretary of State's Election Division.
The official result will be updated and officially certified Aug. 16.
