Singer-songwriter Alice Howe and rock legend Daniel “Freebo” Friedberg’s sounds will merge as the two artists prepare for an upcoming concert in Port Townsend.

Set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at the Palindrome at Eaglemount Cidery, Howe and Freebo will combine their musical talents in a showcase of tandem of virtuosity.

Tickets to the event cost $20 at ticketstorm.com/e/27660/t or $25 at the door.

Howe and Freebo present a distinctive study in contrasting sounds, bringing together a rising voice in the Americana sphere with a venerable rock, folk, and blues icon who’s played with the best.

Each a compelling performer in their own right, they both lead and support each other in their well-crafted songs with flawless harmonies and tasteful instrumentation, show organizers said.

Best known for his decade of touring and recording with blues icon Bonnie Raitt, Freebo’s played with a lot of the greats including on records with Crosby Stills, Nash & Young, Maria Muldaur, John Mayall, Ringo Starr, Dr. John, and Neil Young.

Freebo has also appeared on TV juggernauts like “Saturday Night Live,” “The Midnight Special,” “The Muppet Show,” and in concert with Spinal Tap. Learn more about Freebo at freebomusic.com.

To hear Howe sing is to be enraptured by the natural, unaffected beauty of her voice. There’s no artifice, no histrionics — just honest, authentic, emotionally resonant singing in the tradition of the roots music that shaped her, organizers said.

The show follows Howe’s latest album, “Circumstance,” which was just released April 21.

The concert is sponsored by Strait Floors and Robin’s Nest Bed and Breakfast. The show’s media sponsor is KPTZ Radio.
