My wife and I find ourselves in a real predicament.
A project is proposed next to us in a non-gated private community. Syd and I have both been in PT or the area since the early 70s. We plan on retiring on Rainshadow Drive. It’s in the county.
We are zoned rural residential -5. It is supposed to mean you can’t divide less than five acres. It’s residential — not for agricultural, commercial, or industrial use.
Our neighbor has had an easement of a portion of his five acres created, to lease to KPTZ for 25 years. The radio station wants to put up a 190-foot radio antenna about 100 feet from the power lines.
There are numerous cottage industries that do not require industrial-size equipment to operate. The radio is a business. A not-for-profit 501c enterprise is still a business in the IRS’s opinion. We view that as commercial. Just because KPTZ being a nonprofit/non-commercial radio station does not make it residential in any sense. Look up the definition of non-commercial radio and explain to the public what a not commercial and not business like KPTZ is.
The radio station is great. We feel there needs to be public pressure to steer the project to a location in the county/public domain.
