There are only about 1,700 registered voters in Quilcene. It’s a pretty small community. That means your vote really counts! Last month the Quilcene School District offered voters an opportunity to continue their unbroken three decades of support for Quilcene schools. A “replacement levy” appeared on the Feb 13 ballot asking Quilcene citizens to extend their support for another four years when the current levy expires Dec 31.
Fewer than half of Quilcene’s registered voters sent in their ballots. The February measure failed by just 25 votes. Our School Board is giving us another chance next month to consider the facts and VOTE to show that our community continues to support its youth.
Why did so few people vote in February? Many said they just didn’t have enough information: What exactly is an Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy? Why do we need it? What does it cover? How does it compare to what we’re paying for now? What would happen if we don’t renew it?
All very good questions and there are accurate and reliable answers. A dedicated group of Quilcene volunteers is determined to deliver the answers you need to make an informed decision on the April ballot measure. We are here to make sure no one fails to VOTE because they can’t get their questions answered.

Your ballot for the April 23 levy election will arrive around April 4 or 5. Send it in as soon as you get it, but know the facts first. Make your vote count!
