Sean Moss announced his departure Monday as the kindergarten-12th grade principal for the Quilcene School District.
In a letter to staff, students, and families, Moss said in his farewell letter that he has decided to take a position at a nearby school district at the start of the next school year.
The choice came “after a great deal of thought and discussion with family,” he wrote.
Moss has been principal of the school for six years.
“During my time in Quilcene, I’m incredibly proud of the collaboration and hard wok that has taken place to ensure our students were afforded the education they deserve,” he wrote. “We’ve madegreat strides in terms of inclusionary practices, curriculum for all classes, hiring and retaining amazing staff members, increasing mental and physical health resources for students, building collaborative systems, parent engagement, and most importantly, improving student agency,” he wrote in the announcement.
The departure of Moss marks the second major leadership change in the Quilcene School District in recent weeks.
Superintendent Frank Redmon announced in late April that he was stepping down at the end of the school year in June.
Redmon spent five years as superintendent.
