The Port Townsend Symphony Orchestra (PTSO) Chamber Music Series will be hosted at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 3 pm.

This free concert series features local award-winning soloists, recitalists, chamber musicians and PTSO members. Donations are always gratefully accepted at the door. No tickets or reservations are required. We hope you can join us for a short reception after the concert.

Artistic directors for the series are pianist Michael Carroll and cellist Pamela Roberts.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Pianist Michael Carroll studied with Robert Van Meter at Clarion State College. A choral and vocal accompanist, he was the staff pianist and program annotator for Seattle’s Thalia Symphony Orchestra for ten years. Michael lives in Port Ludlow and is an Artistic Director of the PTSO Chamber Music Series.

Pianist and Violist Sung-Ling Hsu from Taiwan immigrated to the U.S. in 2014. She majored in composition at university and after graduating she worked in scoring and sound effects design. At present she is devoted to chamber music. Sung-Ling is pianist at Port Ludlow Community Church.

Pianist Lisa Lanza was voted “Best Musical Performer of Jefferson County” in 2017. Performed at Hebden Bridge Piano Festival in UK & Music at Albignac, France. Earned Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from U of Redlands; studied with Paul Roberts & Maria João Pires. Pianist at Grace Lutheran Church and Rainshadow Chorale.

Soprano Jeannie Bennett Oneppo started as a child singing in church choirs and has gone on to perform as a soloist in recitals, with choruses and orchestras, and while touring Europe, Turkey, and China. She taught singing full time for many years, and was faculty at the Yale School of Drama. She earned her BME from Illinois Wesleyan and MM from the Yale School of Music.

Clarinetist Vincent Oneppo graduated from the Yale School of Music, where he later served in administration for four decades. Soloist with Yale ensembles in New Haven, the Norfolk (Conn.) Festival, and Carnegie Hall. Member of New Haven & Bridgeport Symphonies, & Orchestra New England. Chamber Music Northwest soloist.

Cellist Pamela Roberts is PTSO principal cellist and Artistic Director of the PTSO Chamber Music Series. She graduated from the University of WA. Her primary teachers were Eva Heinitz and Toby Saks. She was faculty cellist at the U of Puget Sound and a fellowship recipient at the Aspen Music Festival.

Violinist Marina Rosenquist has primarily called the Olympic Peninsula home. A graduate of Lawrence University, she puts her education to use in her private studio, rehearsals, and occasional performances. Marina enjoys the gifts of her simple life in being a mum and wife.

Violist Marcy Stewart began studying violin in 1960 but soon defected to the more sonorous viola. Over the past 60 years she has played in orchestras and chamber ensembles from California to Alaska. Marcy is a former children's librarian and semi-retired classroom teacher who spends her free time spinning, hiking, bicycling and playing music.

Clarinetist Joel Wallgren, a Poulsbo native, studied clarinet with Julie Werth and Laura Deluca. He went on to study clarinet with Russell Dagon, Steven Cohen, and J. Lawrie Bloom at Northwestern University. He is Executive Director of the Poulsbo Community Orchestra where he works to keep classical music alive in our community.
