The Pro-Am of Music concert series is set to conclude with an exciting final performance at the Northwest Maritime Center, featuring the talented Port Townsend High School Chamber Ensemble.

Under the direction of local virtuoso and music professor Mathew Daline, the ensemble of 15 student-musicians will perform a wide range of classical pieces on violin, viola, and cello. The group recently reformed following a years-long hiatus due to COVID-19.

The final concert is set to start at
7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 at the Northwest Maritime Center on Water Street.

Tickets cost $20 per person and can be purchased by calling 360-301-9816, emailing musicboosterspths@gmail.com, or visiting ptmusicboosters.org.

The Chamber Ensemble is set to play “Triptyque” by Yasushi Akutagawa and “Hungarian Dance No. 1” by Johannes Brahms.

Daline will also be playing viola on the program, performing the modern and computer-accompanied piece, “The View From Dead Horse Point,” composed by John Drumheller. This avant-garde work for viola and computer contains several opportunities for Daline to improvise with his computer counterpart.

Daline recently relocated back to Port Townsend from Bowling Green, Ohio where he worked as professor of strings at Bowling Green University. He’s currently playing professionally in the Pacific Northwest, and in the process of starting a violin and viola music studio in town.

The Pro-Am of Music concert series supports fundraising for the Port Townsend High music department’s planned spring 2023 trip to Los Angeles, California. These events are sponsored by the Port Townsend Music Boosters.
