The Kitsap County man suspected of shooting and killing a Port Hadlock man at Sandy Shore Lake in late July was found dead last week in the Poulsbo area.
Jason B. Thesenvitz, 40, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, according to the Kitsap County Coroner’s Office.
The coroner’s office said Monday the cause and manner of death “are pending.”
Thesenvitz had previously admitted to fatally shooting David Mark Andrew Moore, 38, during a confrontation at Sandy Shore Lake.
The deadly confrontation between Thesenvitz and Moore happened sometime around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 27.
Jefferson County Sheriff Joe Nole said earlier that Thesenvitz had called police and said he had shot another man during a dispute. Thesenvitz then waited for deputies at the scene of the shooting.
Moore was found dead at the scene. Thesenvitz was immediately taken into custody, but was released after questioning.
Nole had earlier said it appeared that Thesenvitz was acting in self-defense.
Detective Sgt. Brett Anglin recently told The Leader the sheriff’s office had completed its report on the incident and had forwarded it to the county prosecutor’s office for review.
Investigators had been waiting for forensic evidence from the shooting victim’s cellular phone before wrapping up their part in the investigation, and that analysis had since been received, Anglin said.
Moore had been a Port Hadlock resident since 2016. Thesenvitz was a Bainbridge Island resident before later moving to Poulsbo.
