The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 166 calls between Friday, Feb. 24, and Thursday, March 2. Below are selected reports.
At 6:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27,
disorderly conduct was reported in the 500 block of Hendricks Street after a neighbor was allegedly cursing at people in the neighborhood.
An officer drove to the location and didn’t see or hear anyone creating a disturbance, but met with the reporting party. The officer contacted the suspect, who said he didn’t need assistance and said that he may have been yelling at the television. The officer asked the man to lower his voice in the future.
At 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28,
in the 1800 block of 21st Street, a theft of clothes was reported. The crime happened in December, according to the reporting party, and there were no cameras in the area.
At 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28,
a man in the 2100 block of Willow Street reported identity theft. The man told law enforcement $942 had been charged to his account, and he’d already reported it to his bank. He was provided resources and information on how to report fraud to the Social Security Administration by police. It appeared to be credit card fraud.
At 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, a barking dog in the 2200 block of 14th Street was reported for a noise complaint. The barking dog has been an ongoing situation. An officer confirmed the barking canine and sent an infraction to the animal’s owner after receiving multiple dog complaints. If the noise continues, the owner will be cited for a noise complaint.
At 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, in the 1200 block of 32nd Street, two men were reported for walking along the driveways of multiple empty properties. One of the men had a dark jacket on and the other was wearing a dark vest. Officers arrived in the area but were unable to find either man.
At 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, a trespassing person was reported in the 300 block of West Sims Way after an employee reported a previously-trespassed subject at the store.
The trespasser was panhandling at the back of the building. Officers arrived and spoke with the employee, who said the trespasser had left toward a park in the area. Officers were unable to locate the trespasser, but will be following up to view video footage.
