The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 188 calls between Friday, April 28, and Thursday, May 4. Below are selected reports.

At 2 a.m. Friday, April 28, a disturbance was reported in the 1200 block of Landes Street after a woman was yelling and swearing outside a grocery store.

Officers contacted the woman, who told them she was yelling in frustration about how some people in town look down on unhoused people. After speaking with the officers, the woman said she’d stop yelling and would return to her campsite to sleep for the night. No crimes were committed and all parties left.

At 6:15 a.m. Friday, April 28, in the 1300 block of Water Street, a man at the ferry docks was yelling obscenities at vehicles and passengers in the area. It was unknown if the man was drinking or impaired.

Officers spoke with him and he was warned that if he continued the outburst he would be trespassed. The man said he gets angry at tailgaters but understood and said there wouldn’t be any more issues. Ferry workers chose to not ask the man to be trespassed.

At 9:40 a.m. Friday, April 28, a stray dog was located in the 600 block of Hancock Street by a neighbor. A black Labrador, the dog had had a tag that its name was Gibbson, or Gibby.

The neighbor told police the dog was friendly. Officers attempted to contact the dog’s owner to no avail, but a short time later, the owner was located and the dog was returned to its owner.

At 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 28, a cat fight was reported in the 1000 block of 17th Street. Two neighborhood cats got into a scuffle, with the owner of one of the felines telling police the other cat broke his cat’s leg. Officers contacted the owner and recommended he discuss the cat fight with the other feline’s owner.

At 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, in the 1000 block of Water Street, a theft was reported at a local store. Two suspects, a man described as 5-foot-10-inches with camouflage pants and a woman with a ponytail and white sweater, had stolen from the store and the owner wanted them to be trespassed.

Police arrival was delayed due to a high-priority call, and once they arrived, the man and woman had left the area. The two were later located by officers and served trespass admonishments.

At 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, a woman was yelling and screaming obscenities in the 600 block of Water Street. She was sitting in the bushes on the shoreline side of Water Street when officers arrived. She said she was upset and hadn’t eaten all day. The officers got the woman some food on the condition she’d stop yelling. No crime occurred and all parties left the scene.
