The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 188 calls between Friday, April 28, and Thursday, May 4. Below are selected reports.

At 11:40 a.m. Sunday, April 30, in the 2400 block of West Sims Way, a man was reported outside a business growling and talking to customers. The man was described as tall, wearing a pink-and-blue cap and coat, and carrying luggage with him. The man reportedly started banging on the store windows and kicked an outside display. The store owner didn’t want the man to be trespassed, but wanted him to leave the front of the shop. Officers arrived and contacted the man, and he agreed to leave.

At 8:25 p.m. Sunday, April 30, a caller in the 1100 block of Umatilla Avenue reported seeing two men in a silver-and-blue van, with one holding what appeared to be an assault rifle pointed into the woods. Officers located three juvenile boys using an airsoft rifle and shooting at a can for target practice.

At 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, in the 800 block of West Sims Way, a caller said a man was threatening to kill her brother.

The man was driving at the moment and potentially under the influence in a Ford Ranger. It was unknown if the man had any weapons on him and he  left the area in his Ford looking for the brother. Officers located the man at a gas station on Water Street. Law enforcement activated their emergency lights and blocked the man’s truck. He immediately became verbally and physically aggressive with the officers and hopped out of the truck looking to challenge the officers. The man was detained for investigation of potential death threats and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. He was later transported to the county jail for felony harassment and threats to kill.

At 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, a caller in the 600 block of West Sims Way said a recycling bin had been stolen. The theft likely occurred between 9 and 11 p.m. and the caller said the bin belonged to Olympic Disposal.

Her bins had been stolen in the past and officers advised the woman to get security cameras.

At 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, in the 1400 block of McPherson Street, a camping trailer was reported stolen from behind a resident’s home. The trailer is a 2019 Radiance 36-foot trailer, black-and-white in color, and was likely taken the night before or during the morning. The trailer didn’t have any plates and was purchased in Idaho. It was valued at $36,000.

At 10 a.m. Thursday, May 4, a collection of tools in the 2500 block of Ninth Street were stolen from a construction site overnight. They were Makita- and Milwaukee-brand tools. Officers completed a burglary report, and there are no suspects.

At 9 p.m. Thursday, May 4, a dog was found in the 1800 block of Maple Street. The canine was a border collie mix with no leash or collar, and officers located a chip on the dog.

The canine’s name is Hank, and the officers attempted to contact its owner. The number on file from the chip was Hank’s prior owner, and the dog was taken to a shelter.
