The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 169 calls between Friday, Jan. 20, and Thursday, Jan. 26. Below are selected reports.

At 4:35 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, suspicious activity was reported in the 4000 block of Jackman Street.

A caller informed law enforcement that a woman with a dog and wearing a backpack was at the nearby fairgrounds. The caller also noted a man had gone to the fairgrounds with his dog 45 minutes prior. Officers went to the fairgrounds, noting multiple people walking dogs. No crime had occurred and the officers left.

At 4:50 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, a stray dog was seen in the 400 block of West Sims Way, running across the street toward Kah Tai Lagoon. The canine was medium-sized, very thin, and multicolored. Officers searched around the lagoon but were unable to find the dog.

At 4:55 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, in the 400 block of West Sims Way, a man was reported after stealing a six-pack of beer and a bag of chips from a nearby store. He was described as wearing a black sweatshirt and backpack.

Officers later located and identified the man, placing him under arrest for theft as well as two warrants. The man was booked into jail for third-degree theft and two outstanding warrants. 

At 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, a noise complaint was made near the intersection of 14th Street and Discovery Road about a barking dog.

A caller reported an ongoing dispute over a large sheep dog that lives outside at a farm in the area. An officer parked at the scene for 20 minutes, only hearing the dog bark three times. The situation was determined not to be a nuisance and the officer left.

At 11:20 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, in the 2700 block of Jefferson Street, a bike was reported stolen from the boatyard.

The theft occurred in the past two days and the bicycle was described as a 26-inch, maroon-colored Raleigh mountain bike that was newer but had some rust on the wheels. A theft report was made.

At 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, a man was reported for dumpster diving in the 2700 block of Jefferson Street.

The man was contacted and trespassed off the boatyard property by port staff. He was warned about having his dog off its leash. He was also warned about having his RV parked at the location for more than 24 hours.

At 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, in the 100 block of Taylor Street, a caller reported an upstairs neighbor, claiming the neighbor was dropping items on the floor and pacing around the apartment all night.

The caller believes the actions are intentional, and the apartment management had already been notified. Officers did not hear any noises at the apartment complex.
